When you remove the rear sway bar on a Touareg, Cayenne, or Q7 for better suspension movement off-road, the rear lower shock bolt is too long and the nut will bottom out on the shoulder of the factory bolt before it will tighten up on the spindle.
This is a high strength Grade 10.9 yellow chromate plated bolt and nylon lock nut used to replace the rear lower shock bolt. You can not use this hardware and retain the sway bar. I've had the same pair of bolts on my Touareg's rear shocks for over 3 years with at least 10 removals/ reinstall of the shock absorber and they are still in great shape.
Early and late bolts are very similar with a short length difference.
